Areas of Expertise and Research Interests
Richard Thurlow earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota. He taught music at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for ten years and was an assistant director of the University of Minnesota Bands for two years. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota with a minor in Cognitive Science. He has published in the fields of text comprehension, narrative theory, and computer assisted instruction. He is co-editor of Linking Literacy and Technology (2000, International Reading Association), a book on applications of instructional technology for developing literacy.
